The Managing Director of SAIL LABS Technology Christoph Prinz, together with SAIL LABS research team members Katja Prinz and Gerhard Backfried, took part in the first annual ELG* conference and META-FORUM 2019.
The event that happened in Brussels, on the 8th and 9th of October, is the international conference series on powerful and innovative Language Technologies (LT) for the multilingual information society. In addition to presentations and panel discussions, the conference´s exposition area offered attendees the chance to get in contact with the latest research and innovation projects.
During this year´s edition, the European Language Grid (ELG) platform was successfully demonstrated for the first time.
The H2020 project ELG is composed of a consortium of 9 members, including SAIL LABS. The project addresses the fragmentation of the European LT by establishing the ELG as the primary platform for LT in Europe. It aims to be a scalable cloud platform, providing, in an easy-to-integrate way, access to hundreds of commercial and non-commercial LT for all European languages, including running tools and services as well as data sets and resources. It was launched in January 2019 and will continue for 3 years.
SAIL participates in ELG in a variety of ways: as a provider of technologies and models, taking part in communication and dissemination activities and being responsible for innovation management within the project.
