Extensive amounts of personal, business, political or even potentially incriminating data are currently stored on various websites and social media platforms which users access and update daily. This rapidly growing amount of information can be vital for businesses and governments in solving real financial, political, or criminal issues, with the help of a professional information analyst.
As we at SAIL LABS Technology GmbH celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2019, we initiate this special year with an exclusive offer.
We hereby invite you to join us at the five-day Open Source Intelligence Training 2019/1 OSINT – THE SAIL WAY.
The event will be held on 25th to 29th of March at our Vienna headquarters – The SAIL LABS Academy.
The workshop will address the new features of the SAIL LABS products Media Mining System and ASM. Furthermore, participants will be equipped with up-to-date knowledge and current in-demand skills in Open Source Intelligence. Please find more details below and get ready to join us in a stimulating hands-on learning journey.
Media Mining System – New Features, Changes and Enhancements
This half-day workshop will discuss the latest version of the award-winning Media Mining System, exploring the new additional features and many improvements.
Denial & Deception – Claiming the Denied Information and Detecting the Deception in Asymmetric Warfare
Denial & Deception as one of the oldest forms of asymmetric warfare occurs when state or non-state actors (e.g. terrorist groups, criminal organizations or separatist movements) use these distinct but intertwined combination of information operations to achieve their objectives against own targets, interests, or policies. Its goal is to influence the judgements made by intelligence producers and thus the consumers of their products.
Whilst denial refers to programs designed to eliminate, impair or neutralize the effectiveness of intelligence collection throughout all disciplines of intelligence, deception refers to manipulation of intelligence collection, analysis or public opinion by introducing false, misleading or even true but misleading information.
As the aim of the intelligence is to acquire accurate information, this day is dedicated to discuss how to detect the “denied” information on one hand and to recognize the deception and reveal the real intentions on the other.
PSYOPS - Psychological Operations in the Age of Social Media and How to Identify and Counter Them
Brexit, US Presidential Election 2016, Arab Spring and the refugee crisis: events in which the public opinion was fundamentally influenced via social media by foreign organizations to reach its own strategic goals.
There is little doubt that social media provides a fruitful environment regarding the possibilities of psychological operations. The challenge is to identify fake news in social media networks as hostile psychological operations and reveal the originator in order to analyze the intention. Finally, all these facts need to be put into meaningful patterns for own future counterintelligence operations.
Consequently, the workshop concerning PSYOPS will provide participants with valuable, in-demand skills needed in countering foreign organizations’ psychological operations.
The New Wave of Jihadism, Left-Wing and Right-Wing Political Extremism in Cyberspace
The number of left-wing and right-wing extremists have significantly increased around the globe. Meanwhile, Jihadism is still an ever-changing threat in today’s security landscape. Making a sober assessment of these threats is therefore imperative for better understanding how these networks avoid detection from law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
This workshop will hence provide an overview on possible future trends of extremist tactics and strategies, their current cyber activities and their emerging narratives, ideology and adapting modus operandi online and offline.
Feature Request Session
This half-day workshop will focus on discussing the current needs of OSINT users and the possibilities of further advances in the field, powered by SAIL LABS solution.
