SAIL LABS Technology Presents Automatic Broadcast News Transcription at DSEi 2005

SAIL LABS Technology AG, the recognized leader in Speech Analytics and Broadcast News Transcription Software, presents its Rapid Open Source Intelligence Deployment System (ROSIDS) at DSEi 2005, the world’s largest and fastest growing tri-service exhibition held in London between 13 – 16th September 2005.

“We have decided to showcase ROSIDS in London because there is an increasing demand for real-time intelligence gathering to support informed decision-making and crises management”, says Christoph Prinz, COO of SAIL LABS. “ROSIDS was, in fact, developed on customer request for the deployment on ships to provide the command centre with foreign open source information from the respective area, but has since proven to be viable for many other deployment scenarios.” From the situation room of presidential offices to the newsroom of the broadcast industry, ROSIDS helps analysts to stay on top of current affairs.

This latest addition to the SAIL LABS portfolio combines automatic speech recognition with automatic machine translation to generate subtitles for news broadcasts in real-time. ROSIDS captures video and/or audio feeds such as TV, Radio and Internet from satellite signals and transcribes the audio feeds using SAIL LABS’ industry-leading speech-to-text technology. The transcription is then fully automatically translated into a chosen language and displayed together with the original audio/video clip, which enables the end-user to watch, for example, Aljazeera with English subtitles in real-time. ROSIDS is an off-the-shelf product for English, Arabic, French, German and Spanish and can be installed on standard PC systems.
