Speech Recognition Improves Media Content Management Efficiency Joint Technology Development of Blue Order and SAIL LABS Technology

blue order GmbH and SAIL LABS Technology AG today announced they will jointly implement Enhanced Audio Indexing and Analysis for blue order’s Enterprise Media Management platform, media archive® and its media e-commerce system, media transact®. The new technologies will enable automatic annotation of audio and video content improving search and retrieval for media asset management professionals.

blue order, a spin-off of tecmath’s Content Management Systems Division, is Europe’s leading provider of Enterprise Media Management solutions. SAIL LABS Technology is one of the world’s leading innovators in the field of Natural Language Understanding.

“Our cooperation with SAIL LABS Technology augments our annotation of video content with an equivalent approach for audio indexing,” explains Rainer Kellerhals, Co-CEO of blue order GmbH. “Our customers often have large volume digital archives and time-critical environments, such as a newsroom where multiple feeds are received simultaneously. In these enterprise-scale content management situations there is a definite need for computer-aided annotation to increase workflow efficiency.”

The new implementation of blue order’s media archive® and media transact® will automatically segment media input based on identification of speaker turns. It will also analyse the audio stream via speech recognition, advanced information search and clustering technologies, combining indexing, classification, and information extraction in one highly efficient and intelligent lattice. By supporting media annotation it offers substantial savings in cost and time by reducing the manual effort of scanning video-audio streams frame by frame.

“Anyone dealing with large collections of rich media faces a serious challenge: how to retrieve and represent data,” said Dr Thomas Netousek, CEO of SAIL LABS Technology.

“The integration of SAIL LABS Media Indexer into blue order’s media archive® and media transact® content management systems enables customers to build a searchable archive in real time of all media content that contains spoken audio tracks. The user has ultimate access to media content with minimal effort, and the bottleneck typically created with manual media analysis and indexing is eliminated. In addition to UK English, US English, German and Arabic SAIL LABS will continue to develop solutions for media streams in other languages as and when the need arises.”
